Time saved
≈ 35 min/week Estimated (assumptions below)

Time saved: ≈ 35 min/week (Estimated)

Assumptions:

  • About 20 active listings checked weekly × about 2 minutes each by hand (open, count title characters and tags, note duplicates) = 40 minutes, minus about 5 minutes reading the Sheet = about 35. Making the edits stays manual and isn't counted. Most shops won't audit weekly, so your saving depends on how often you'd check.

Not timed yet. This becomes Measured only after an agent times the manual baseline (3+ runs, median) and the automated run from Make's log.

Make budget (Estimated)

Scheduleon demand (or weekly at most)
Checking credits / monthabout 4 (weekly; 1 list call per run, no Watch trigger)
Work credits / monthabout 90 (weekly, 20 listings)
Total credits / monthabout 22 (on demand, once a month) / about 95 (weekly)
Switched-on scenarios0 if run on demand from the editor; 1 if scheduled weekly

Assumptions:

  • About 20 active listings
  • 1 credit per List Shop Listings call (more if it paginates)
  • 1 credit per Add a Row (one per listing)
  • About 4.3 audits a month when weekly

Make Free: 1,000 credits a month (see "Make Free limits" below). Not measured yet.

What it does

Pulls your listings with Etsy: List Shop Listings and writes one Sheet row each, with helper columns for title length, tag count and duplicate tags. Every Etsy listing stays exactly as it was.

What it does not do

  • Change any listing. (Applying edits you approve is a separate recipe, ETSY-005.)
  • Look at other shops. Only ever point it at your own shop: Etsy's API Terms ban automated scraping or analysis of Etsy data without authorization, so never use it on a competitor's listings.
  • Promise better search ranking. It just makes checking faster.
  • Apply an Etsy rule: the length flags use a number you choose.

What you copy or install

The blueprint, template and connections in the box above, plus these Make modules (exact names):

  1. Etsy: List Shop Listings (filtered to active)
  2. Google Sheets: Add a Row

No extra module is needed: the Sheet's formulas do the counting. To count in Make instead, use the built-in mapping functions in the Add a Row mapping: length (text or buffer) for title length, and split (text; separator) for tags, e.g. length(split(tags; ",")). Functions, not modules, so no extra credits.

Setup steps

  1. Copy the audit Sheet template (headers and formulas included).
  2. In Make, import the blueprint (or build List Shop Listings → Add a Row).
  3. Set the listing state filter to active.
  4. Before each full re-run, start a new dated tab or clear the old rows.
  5. Set your own title-length threshold in the Sheet's threshold cell.
  6. Leave the scenario switched off (no active slot on Make Free), click Run once, and compare the row count with your active count in Shop Manager. Or schedule weekly at most.
Column What it holds
listing_id · title · tags From Etsy, as they are now
title_len Character count (=LEN(title) or from Make)
tag_count Tags filled in
flags e.g. title_long, title_short, dup_tag, under_tagged
notes Your notes

What success looks like

  • Row count equals your active listing count in Shop Manager.
  • Sorted by listing_id, no ID appears twice.
  • The scenario has only list and Sheet steps (no Update, Create or Delete modules).

Test evidence

Status: Not yet tested. Planned: live-tested in an Etsy test shop under Etsy's API Testing Policy. It passes when List Shop Listings returns the test shop's listings; Sheet rows match the listing IDs, none missing or doubled; the scenario has no Update, Create or Delete modules (read-only confirmed); and credits used are logged.

[TEST LOG: add the log summary, date and credits used once the PASS log exists.] Re-tested monthly; marked broken if it stops working.

Make credit math (Estimated)

Schedule Run Work Total a month Fits Make Free?
On demand or monthly, recommended about 1 about 21 about 22 Yes
Weekly about 4 about 90 about 95 Yes
Weekly, 50-listing shop about 4–9 about 215 about 220–225 Yes, but watch it next to other recipes

Assumes about 20 active listings. List Shop Listings uses 1 credit per call (more if your shop needs several pages), Add a Row 1 per listing; weekly is about 4.3 audits a month. No Watch trigger, so no checking cost. Estimates until the test log measures them.

Make Free limits (read before you switch anything on)

  • 1,000 credits a month[price-check], and no scenario runs more often than every 15 minutes[price-check] (make.com/en/pricing).
  • Checking costs credits even when nothing is new. Each scheduled run uses 1 credit for its first step, even an empty "check run" (help.make.com/operations). Checking alone: every 15 minutes ≈ 2,880 a month · hourly ≈ 720 · every 6 hours ≈ 120 · once a day ≈ 30 (Make's examples), plus the real work.
  • Probably only 2 switched-on scenarios, according to a Make community forum report (community.make.com), not a Make pricing or help page. Plan for 2 until your account shows otherwise.
  • To stay within them: run on-demand recipes (listing drafts, SEO audit) with Run once and leave them switched off (no active slot). Switch on 2 scheduled scenarios at most. The order log and packing sheet can share one scenario (one Watch Shop Receipts trigger, a Router, one route per Sheet: one slot, one checking cost). After week one, check credits used in Make and adjust.

What can go wrong

Symptom Likely cause Fix
Fewer rows than listings Only the first page of results came back Turn on pagination or raise the limit; re-run to a fresh tab
Credits run out on Make Free Large shop: about 1 credit per row plus list calls Audit active listings only, or run monthly
Duplicate rows on re-run Adding to the same tab every time Use a dated tab, or clear old rows first
Flags look wrong The threshold is your choice, not an Etsy rule Edit the threshold cell
Etsy connection expired Access revoked or expired Reconnect Etsy in Make
