Starter recipes

Time saved is an estimate until we've timed it. Each recipe page lists the assumptions (how many listings or orders a week, how many steps, minutes per step). Your number will depend on your shop.

What "Seller‑policy‑safe" means

Every Etsy recipe carries a Seller-policy-safe flag. It means:

  • The recipe works with your own shop data: your listings, your stock, your orders.
  • It never emails, texts or markets to buyers outside Etsy using order data, and it never adds buyers to a mailing list.
  • When a buyer does need to hear from you, it uses Etsy's own tools (Etsy messages, or Submit Tracking Info so Etsy notifies them).
  • Anything that publishes stays in your hands. Listings are created as drafts, and you publish them.

  • You connect your own shop to your own Make account. We never see or handle your Etsy login, and no recipe sends Etsy data to Kit or any mailing list.

The flag is our own check against Etsy's seller policies. Etsy doesn't review or endorse it, and you're still responsible for how you run your shop.

Questions

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You import a blueprint into Make, copy a Sheet, connect your accounts and follow numbered steps.

What does it cost?

The recipes are free. Most run on Make's free plan[price-check] and Google Sheets. Make Free gives you 1,000 credits a month[price-check] and appears to allow only 2 active scenarios, according to a Make community forum report (not a Make pricing or help page). If you plan to run several of these recipes at the same time, that 2-scenario limit could matter. Each recipe page lists its tools, what they cost, its credit math, and whether the free plan is enough.

Is this made by Etsy?

No. This content is not created or endorsed by Etsy, Inc., and Automate Your Hours is independent and not affiliated with Etsy. The recipes work with Etsy via Make: you connect your own shop to your own Make account, using the same Etsy connection any Make user can set up.

Do you see my Etsy login or shop data?

No. You connect your shop inside your own Make account, and your data goes to your own Google Sheets or your own inbox. We never see or handle your Etsy login. No recipe sends Etsy data to Kit (our email tool) or messages your buyers automatically.

Will it change my live listings?

Only if a recipe says so, in plain words, at the top of the page. The starter recipes create drafts or only read your shop.

How do you test order recipes without real orders?

Etsy has no test mode for orders, and sellers can't buy from their own shop. So order recipes are tested on sample order files shaped like real Etsy orders, and labeled that way. Your first real order is the live run. How we test

Where's the AI?

One starter recipe uses an AI step inside Make: AI-drafted listing descriptions writes a first draft from facts you type into a Sheet, and you check and edit it before you use it. Nothing an AI writes publishes on its own. The rest of the six starter recipes are plain automation. We use AI where it actually saves time. If your item itself is made with AI, Etsy requires you to say so in the listing. Etsy's rules don't cover AI-written description text, but every description must be accurate, so review and edit each draft before you use it.

Something broke. What now?

Use the "Report a break" link on the recipe page. We re-test recipes monthly and mark broken ones until they pass again.
