What you copy/install
  • Make blueprint: ETSY-001.blueprint.json[LINK: /downloads/ETSY-001.blueprint.json, exported after the first passing test] (import into a new Make scenario)
  • Sheet template: ETSY-001-template.xlsx[LINK: /downloads/ETSY-001-template.xlsx] (make a copy in Google Sheets)
  • Connections in Make: your Google account and your Etsy shop
Downloads marked Draft, not tested are Builder drafts; the rest are published only after the recipe passes its test.
What success looks like
After one run, each new row is a draft in Shop Manager with the right title, price, quantity and tags. Nothing is active; Make's run history shows no errors.

Time saved
≈ 40 min/week Estimated (assumptions below)

Time saved: ≈ 40 min/week (Estimated)

Assumptions:

  • 5 listings a week × about 8 manual steps (open Etsy, new listing, paste title, description and tags, price, quantity, category, save) × about 1 minute = 40 minutes. Photos and your final review stay manual and aren't counted. Fewer listings, smaller saving.

Not timed yet. This becomes Measured only after an agent times the manual baseline (3+ runs, median) and the automated run from Make's log.

Scheduleon demand (or hourly)
Checking credits / month5 (on demand) / 720 (hourly)
Work credits / month22
Total credits / monthabout 30 (on demand) / about 740 (hourly)
Switched-on scenarios0 if run on demand from the editor; 1 if scheduled

Assumptions:

  • About 22 new listings a month (5 a week)
  • About 5 Run-once clicks a month when on demand
  • Watch New Rows uses 1 credit per check, even with no new rows
  • Create a Listing uses 1 credit per row

Make Free: 1,000 credits a month (see "Make Free limits" below). Not measured yet.

What it does

Watches your Sheet for new rows and maps each column into Make's Etsy: Create a Listing, which "Creates a draft listing product" (apps.make.com/etsy). Drafts only.

What it does not do

  • Publish or activate anything.
  • Email buyers or add anyone to a mailing list.
  • Upload photos (not in this version).
  • Check titles, tags or whether an item is allowed on Etsy. That's still your call.

What you copy or install

The blueprint, Sheet template and connections in the box above, plus these Make modules (exact names):

  1. Google Sheets: Watch New Rows (starts a run when a row is added)
  2. Etsy: Create a Listing (creates the draft)

Optional later: Upload a Listing Image, Create or Update a Personalization.

Setup steps

  1. Copy the Sheet template. Keep the header row and no blank rows in the middle: "If a sheet contains a blank row, Make doesn't process all subsequent rows" (Make docs).
  2. In Make, import the blueprint (or build Watch New Rows → Create a Listing).
  3. Connect your Google account and your Etsy shop.
  4. Check the mapping below. Leave the listing state as draft (the default).
  5. Leave the scenario off and click Run once after pasting rows: the cheapest way on Make Free. To automate, schedule it hourly. Never more often than every 30 minutes: Make's Etsy page recommends "every 30 minutes or longer" (apps.make.com/etsy), and that alone uses about 1,440 credits a month.
  6. Add a practice row with "test" in the title, click Run once, confirm the draft in Shop Manager, then delete it.
Column Goes into
title · description Title · Description
price · quantity Price (shop currency) · Quantity
taxonomy_id Category ID (from Etsy's category list)
tags Tags, comma-separated
who_made / when_made / is_supply Etsy's required listing details
status_note Your notes; not sent to Etsy

If a required field is empty, the run should stop with an error, not fill in a default.

What success looks like

  • Shop Manager → Listings → Drafts shows the new listing.
  • Your Active count hasn't changed.
  • Make's run history shows a successful run, no errors.

Test evidence

Status: Not yet tested. Planned: live-tested in an Etsy test shop under Etsy's API Testing Policy. It passes when the test shop and Sheet connect on Make Free; one added "test" row starts a run; Create a Listing makes a draft and nothing is active; credits used are logged; and the scenario has no email or text-message steps.

[TEST LOG: add the log summary, date and credits used once the PASS log exists. No purchases are made for testing.] Re-tested monthly; marked broken if it fails until it passes again.

Make credit math (Estimated)

Schedule Checking Work Total a month Fits Make Free?
On demand (Run once), recommended about 5 about 22 about 30 Yes, lots of room
Every hour about 720 about 22 about 740 Yes, about 260 left for other recipes
Every 30 minutes about 1,440 about 22 about 1,460 No
Every 15 minutes about 2,880 about 22 about 2,900 No

Assumes about 22 listings a month and about 5 Run-once clicks. Watch New Rows uses 1 credit per check, even with no new rows; Create a Listing uses 1 per row. Estimates until the test log measures them.

Make Free limits (read before you switch anything on)

  • 1,000 credits a month[price-check], and no scenario runs more often than every 15 minutes[price-check] (make.com/en/pricing).
  • Checking costs credits even when nothing is new. Each scheduled run uses 1 credit for its first step, even an empty "check run" (help.make.com/operations). Checking alone: every 15 minutes ≈ 2,880 a month · hourly ≈ 720 · every 6 hours ≈ 120 · once a day ≈ 30 (Make's examples), plus the real work.
  • Probably only 2 switched-on scenarios, according to a Make community forum report (community.make.com), not a Make pricing or help page. Plan for 2 until your account shows otherwise.
  • To stay within them: run on-demand recipes (listing drafts, SEO audit) with Run once and leave them switched off (no active slot). Switch on 2 scheduled scenarios at most. The order log and packing sheet can share one scenario (one Watch Shop Receipts trigger, a Router, one route per Sheet: one slot, one checking cost). After week one, check credits used in Make and adjust.

What can go wrong

Symptom Likely cause Fix
No run after adding a row Blank row above the data, or a row edited in place Delete blank rows; add new rows at the bottom
Category error on Create a Listing Missing or invalid taxonomy_id Copy the category ID from Etsy's category list
Fails on a required field who_made, when_made or is_supply blank Fill every required column; the scenario should stop, not guess

Seller-policy-safe ✓

Drafts in your own shop only; no buyer contact. When you publish, Etsy's seller policies still apply to you (Etsy's API Terms bind Make as the app, not you):

  • Every listing must meet Etsy's Creativity Standards: made, designed, handpicked or sourced by you. Bulk drafting doesn't make resold or mass-produced items OK.
  • If your item itself is made with AI, Etsy requires you to say so in the listing. Etsy's rules don't cover AI-written description text, but every description must be accurate, so review and edit each draft before you use it. (Etsy's Seller Policy)
  • Use your own photos, not stock images.
